Surnames: MICHAUD BOUCHARD GENDREAU DUBE & More!
In 1656, when our ancestor PIERRE MICHEAU/MICHAUD (b.1637) went aboard the ship,LA FORTUNE at the port of LaRochelle in France, he did not suspect that in this same port lived at this time, a 5 year old child named Marie Ancelin, who was going to become his bride 11 years later. Pierre settled in the area along the St. Lawrence River, called Nouvele-France (New France). In 1667 Pierre marries Marie, who at this time is sixteen years of age, at Chateau
Richer, in Quebec. Pierre and Marie moved
several times along the St. Lawrence River and made their final move to Kamouraska where it became their final homestead and the cradle of a multitude of decendants. Pierre died of mouth cancer, sometime between May 28 and Sept. 15, 1702 and was buried in Kamouraska. Marie died on Apr. 18, 1729.
PIERRE GENDREAU dit LaPoussiere was born Jan.3,1633, in St.Denis, I`le d`Oleron, France. Along with my ancestor,PIERRE MICHEAU/MICHAUD he departed LaRochelle on Apr.8,1656. He married Jeanne Garnier, on Jan.24,1663, in Chateau-Richer, I`le d`Orleans, Montmorency,Quebec. Jeanne had departed from France in 1657. Pierre Gendreau and Jeanne raised 6 children of their own and the three children from Jeanne`s previous marriages. Pierre died on January, 1673 and Jeanne died Nov. 1703. (note) Some 200+ years later the two surnames "Gendreau and Michaud" connected again with the marriage of my father "Dennis Michaud" and my mother "Lucie Gendreau".
MATHURIN DUBE was born in 1619 in Vault Themer of Fontenay-the-Count, Lucon, Poitou, France. He was the son of Jean Dube and Renee Suzanne. Mathurin Dube, a pioneer of the Canadian families arrived in New France around 1660. Mathurin settled on a piece of land on the I`le d`Orleans, within the boundaries of the parish of Saint-Jean, facing the south bank of the Saint Lawrence River. Three years later Mathurin declared himself ready to take a wife. Mathurin needed a strong wife and he found her in Marie Campion (who was born in France), a young girl of 16 years. She had all the qualities required to raise a family in the difficult conditions of those years. They had eight children. Mathurin died Dec. 1695 and Marie died Dec. 1703.
MICHEL BOUCHARD, the son of Clement Bouchard and Louise Bressard- Brillard, was baptised on Nov. 16,1635, in the church of St-Nazaire, of the parish of Andilly-the-Marsh, at LaRochelle, France. On March 1657, at 21 years of age he leaves his native area of Saintonge, to go to New-France (Quebec). He arrives there on Aug.20, 1657. He married Marie Trotin, born about 1645, daughter of Jean Trotin, on Dec.2,1662, in Chateau-Richer Quebec. From the seven or eight children of Marie Trotin and Michel, three have a link in this genealogy. The first, Marie Madeleine marries Pierre Dancosse who has a link to my Michaud ancestry, Charles marries Madeleine Dube, who is a link to my Dube ancestory, and Gabriel is my direct link.
