I added a Medical Condition fact to an individual. Just once, mind you. When I displayed the person's record, the Medical Condition fact was duplicated and displayed twice. If I deleted one of them, both disappeared. If I edited one of them, both received the same edit.
As I said, very weird - there's a bug there somewhere.
The following link should take you to the person concerned -

Try Thi
Go to EDIT select either
Maintenance
Change Site Title
Change Main Person
You will find a List of CUSTOM EVENTS
See if it is in there TWICE if so cancel one or Both, if you wish to start again.
Hope that this will work for you
Regards
Les
I added it as a Custom Event on the Person edit page itself so that caused it to be added to the list of available events as you have described. It is only there once.
Regards,
Ian Marr
If not when you EDIT the Person you can go along side the Custom Event Box and delete from there as well.
This then would be that NO Medical History is showing on the Persons Page, and then you can just Start again.
Hope that I have made it clear
Regards
Les
Yes, have tried that. But when I re-enter the event, it is still duplicated.

Back to Basics

Go to EDIT select either

Craig, Annie
b. ABT 1849
Beith, Ayrshire, Scotland
e. Medical Condition
Noted as being an invalid in 1881 Scotland Census
e. Medical Condition

Go to her EDIT and DELETE both these entries by selecting REMOVE and then Exit her FILE..
Go to another Name ( I normally select mine for alterations) and Create MEDICAL CONDITION in CUSTOM. If it shows on this person just go alongside on RIGHT and click Remove.
You can now go back to Craig, Annie
and you will now see Medical Condition in LIST.
Select Medical Condition and this should now be correct.

Only takes a few minutes to do but will clear your PC of any small GLITCH.
Let me know how you get on
Les
Weirder & weirder (not you (:-)) - the problem.
Did as you suggested.
Removed Medical Condition from list of custom events in maintenance, etc.
The event now shows a title of CUS11 when I go to Annie's record. Removed the first of these from Annie, both disappeared.
Checked list of custom events, Medical Condition has gone.
Went to my record and added a new custom event called Medical Condition. SO FAR SO GOOD. When my record, in edit mode redisplayed, no Medical Condition appears, but now Cause of Death (a previously used custom event) is there awaiting update. So, I update that event and voila, I now have two Cause of Death events. I removed the first, and of course, both disappeared.
Checked list of custom events and Medical Condition does NOT appear.
Go back to Annie and select custom event, list. There is Medical Condition in the list, so I select it and it magically turns into Cause of Death when the update screen is redisplayed. Update it, and when the record itself is displayed there are two Cause of Death entries. Delete the first, both go.
Medical Condition is in the list of custom events when you go to add one, but is not in the list when you display custom events via maintenance, etc.
Back to Annie - tried adding an existing custom event, called Other. Updated it and everything appears okay. Just one Other entry, with the appropriate note.
So I can at least get the info out there, even if it doesn't have the title I would like.
Go figure - I know you can be a bit of a terrier when it comes to solving problems, so good luck with this one Les.

Ian Marr
Have looked at Annie and see tat you have it under OTHER as you have said.
You keep on saying you go to CUSTOM It should be Events LIST. If you select MEDICAL from this it will show on ANNIE ( As my screen shot) with OTHER and MEDICAL BOTH SHOWING.
Now just go to the end of OTHER and click REMOVE.
You will now just see MEDICAL on ANNIE.
Keep away from CUSTOM
Hope that this will now work for you.
I think the confusion is USING CUSTOM. Both OTHER and MEDICAL will stay in the LIST unless you remove OTHER from LIST as I explained earlier
Regards
Les
Screen shot is two combined to show ANNIE with both and then just MEDICAL doing as I have explained above
I have used both Custom and List. To get Medical Condition into the list, the first time I selected Custom and keyed it in. This placed it in the List.
Since then I have tried all sorts of sequence of events but it just doesn't display correctly - either duplicated or the wrong event name appears.
Right now, when I go to Maintenance and display the list of Custom events, Medical Condition does NOT appear. When I go to List in the individual edit screen, it DOES appear, but if selected it converts to Other, and that is duplicated. If I select Other from the List, then it appears correctly and once only.
Not my preferred option, but Other, appearing only once, with the suitable citation description, will do for now. The message is still getting through and not in a nonsensical way.

As you know when we add an Event in CUSTOM all we are doing is selecting a Pre Set LINK BOX that only needs a HEADINg.
I have TESTED this a few times and hoefully it will work for you, and it is SO SIMPLE TO DO.
Go to Maintenance and go to the LINK BOXES.
Where you have OTHER just HIGHLIGHT and DELETE and now put in MEDICAL HISTORY ( or what you wish )
You are in the SAME LINK BOX that you used for OTHER,
Make sure you CLICK OK
Now when you go back to ANNIE you will see tat what you have just typed in already there. SOLVED
Should have realised that it is only the TEXT HEADING needed changing.
You may have a GLICH on one of these LINK BOXES, but only time will tell.
Regards
Les
You will now see i
Only problem with that solution is that any existing events linked to the Other title will now be identified as Medical Condition. This would not be appropriate in most cases.
Regards,
Ian Marr
If you have created it, you should and would know, which Name/s you connected it to.
As we are only talking about YOUR LIST not anyone elses it does not apply.
All these BOXES show the TEXT HEADING that you put in, and are then a LINK.
As this one is working correctly for you, all you are doing is changing a Name.
It is possble that you have a GLITCH in one of the LINKS that you have been selecting earlier, Highly Unlikely though.

Les
