I'm fairly certain I have a handle on the technical aspects of how to create the link, but my question is one of actual access.
Since many of my users are seniors with limited computer experience I would prefer that they not have to register and log in when they view any portion of the tree.
What do I need to do to make that happen
website security
Member ship model
everyone logs in with a email and password
Website access code
You login with a email to edit everyone else a code/password set by you
No security NOT RECOMMENDED
you login with a email to edit
everyone as access to everything
To make these changes you need to find privacy within the dashboard
I have defined an access code for the site. Is there a way to pass that code as a parameter in the URL from my family web site.
Many of our users a seniors, some of whom actually grew up when there was no such thing as TV. They have enough of a challenge just logging into the reunion site. I would like to eliminate the burden of yet another password.
If the object of the exercise is to let the oldsters only see how they are related to each other, then don't put in any other data such as vignettes, birthdays, addresses etc.
If so-and-so is a cousin of an uncle of so-and-so, whether still living or dead, then so be it. Those are facts, and can be considered public domain.
If some zealous stalker wants to zero in on a particular person, then merely googling that name will yield so much more data.
Use TinyURL to shorten your site's URL and email it to all your kin.
My example below.

Hope my 2 cents' isn't that radical
