My name is Rachael Gilbert. I am the youngest daughter of Mark Gilbert. My dad, Mark, passed away on May 11, 2008 from a brain tumor that was discovered in August of 2007. This site has not been updated in almost a year, but I am going to try and take over where my dad left off as soon as possible. I am currently enrolled in college and will try my best to work on the roots of our family soon. Thank you for your patience.
In researching my family roots, I found that my families resided around Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio since the 1890s. In researching back through the 1800s, I found my families were not only original Butler County settlers, but also followed a Cincinnati story that included all the counties surrounding Cincinnati, including Northern Kentucky. This Cincinnati story included quite a few german immigrants from the 1840-1870s and Civil War Veterans. Going back further, my family journey became even more of an American story, with Quaker migration from England to Philadelphia to Cincinnati as well as Revolutionary War veterans whose families migrated to the West from the Middle Atlantic states [NY, NJ, MD, NC]. Before the revolutionary war my heritage includes Jamestown, Virginia, New Amsterdam and Poynton Manor in Maryland.
