Please advise how to delete pictures which I erroneously uploaded. I don't need duplicates on there.

HOW TO DELETE PERMANENTLY A PHOTO FROM THE ALBUM (NOT FROM A PERSON).

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply TP.

But I don't see a checkbox on the album.

To clarify - I don't want to delete the album or the picture I have in the album.

I want to delete from THE MAIN ALBUM OF EVERYONE'S PICTURES. In other words, the place that says 'Select from Abum' right below 'Upload Photos'.

By clicking on that 'select from album' it pulls up many pictures that I've uploaded and I need to get rid of some of those as they are duplicates or just not needed.

Dear Tribal Pages: I figured out another way around this issue. I can 'pick this photo' from the main album and stick it in anyone's album then go to Edit and then click Delete at the bottom and it takes out the particular picture.

So I'm OK now I've figured that out but I still want to know if there is another way to get rid of pictures from that main album which holds many many pictures. Thx.

Don't know if this will help or not. But awhile back I was going to delete several photo's and instead of deleting them one at a time. I created a new photo album with name "Photo's To Be Deleted" I then moved all the photo's that I wanted deleted to this album. You can then delete the whole album if you want.

Hi, Doyle,

Yes, that would work too. (Thank you!!) Don't know if you saw my 2nd reply to TP telling them I'd figured out I could move a picture into ANY album and then delete from bottom of that edit page for that album. Doing what u suggest would do the same.

Now I've found out that since so many months have gone by since uploading duplicates (because I failed to edit the pictures before I uploaded), that I can't remember all the ones to get rid of! DO YOU happen to know if you put the same picture on more than one album, say 3 for example, that picture will show up 3 times in that main source album??

I believe that any photo uploaded to Tribal will only show in the album you choose. If you don't choose what album you want it in, then it will put in the "Default" album

If you have, say three photo's of same in three different albums you have uploaded the same photo three times.Instead of having 3 photo of the same, you can attach all the names to one of the photo and then can delete other 2. This will give yhou the same photo on 3 separate profiles.

DD - You are correct - I just went to my 'default' album and took out 2 of the 3 to try it and attached all the people to the one picture left. It worked as you suggested.

I had a bit of a mess since I had originally uploaded the picture 3 times but I had five names and so the other two names I had attached and i think in doing that I discovered how it should work. But I hadn't known how to delete and re-do until we did this little exercise. So now I know all about it and won't have any more issues. It really is a fantastic program. THANK YOU, Doyle.

Doyle - check out Ian Marr's response to this subject dated January 16th.

He has given me the more direct way to delete pictures from the 'Default' album.

TP had tried to give me those directions after I wrote my query but one step was just not clear enough for me to understand it.

But Ian has clarified. Thought you might want to know an easier way to delete.

Thanks Delia,

Yes this works, but at least in my albums. The Default album only contains photo's attached to the Default album.

So if you have say the same photo attached to 3 different albums one of which is the Default album. You would only be able to delete the one. To delete the other two you would have to go to the album they are attached to.

Hi, Doyle, It's too confusing to think about until we actually have to do it. I did solve the '3 photo' problem I had yesterday so that's good and if another issue comes up I'll have these different ways of deleting. I had not any idea how to delete pictures but now I know at least three ways. So I'll be good from now on.

The big thing I have to remember is to EDIT my photos like cropping and adjusting colors etc. BEFORE I upload to TP. I had not done that in several instances so I went back to edit and then uploaded the edited picture and of course ended up with the unwanted photo in the album and in the default album. So problems all fixed now - it's wonderful to have great support like this for TP. I had only just discovered this help forum and been on the site for years Thanks again, Doyle.

Hi Delia,

Hover cursor on the Media tab in the Menu bar and click on the Photos item in the drop down menu that appears.

Select Default Album (should be a highlighted link). This will give you ALL photos. You can then move along the list, clicking the little box for each of the one you want to delete.

When done, click on Delete in the top left-hand corner.

That should do the job.

Regards,

Ian Marr

(Image attached - I hope - not sure how to do this)

Well Ian, again I thank you. I have followed these instructions perfectly and lo and behold I found the default album and how to delete. This is an easier way to do it than the round about way I figured out.

I think this is what someone tried to tell me the other day and I couldn't quite get it. Maybe a step was left out - I think they had said I should select the album from which to delete but they didn't say to click on the Default album so I missed that one point.

How do i delete a photo from my own album. I accidentally uploaded a photo twice to my album. I'm not the administrator of the overall family tree website.
