Changing a relationship into a marriage

I upload a GEDCOM to Tribal Pages from Family Tree Maker, but it keeps converting a "Relationship" into a Marriage. I've tried manually changing Tribal Pages into "P" but the next GEDCOM just overwrites it. Does anyone have a solution please ?

Hi Nigel, you say the NEXT GEDCOM overwrites it.

Has this NEXT GEDCOM the same relationship, as if so you are just entering the same again.

Hi Les,

I have FTM "Marriage" set as Relationship=Private (alternates are Spouse, Partner, Friend, Single, Other, Private, Unknown).

I'm showing the status as deceased which probably isn't the "problem".

The couple weren't married and in FTM it reports it somewhat quaintly as met rather than married-which is fine. Whatever I seem to set FTM for, TP seems to convert it into a marriage rather than a relationship.

The question I'm asking is what do I need to set either FTM or TP for so that TP doesn't call it a marriage. I update by GEDCOM, and don't want to go into TP after each upload to manually change it.

Thanks for your help Les. Much appreciated :-)
