It is so sad AND infuriating when I see how many mistakes are being made on the ANCESTRY website. I know we ALL make mistakes and believe me I have made a few . On ancestry someone has my dear Gt Grandfather marrying a much much younger woman and emigrating to AUSTRALIA, fathering more children and a whole new family appeared under my name !!!We all get excited at a 'find' but please please try NOT to publish unless very sure as we are all doing this research in vain. One person actually argued with me to the point of being rude in spite of me sending proof and then he was cross he had spent a lot of his time on my tree and not his ! Oh the folly of the wise.. Happy careful hunting to all my genealogical brothers and sisters.

Of course, just as with Ancestry, TP is user-input driven, so it is just as likely to contain all sorts of errors, from the sublime to the ridiculous, as well.

I actually deleted my first tree on Ancestry because of this problem. I blame myself for accepting every thing sent me without thinking.

My second tree contains a bunch less people but makes a bunch more sense.

You have to check dates and places plus use common sense when posting.

I share your sentiments. Mis-information is copied and pasted without checking dates. One of my female ancestors died in 1803 and several of her children were born after her death! It wasn't copied once but countless times.Very disappointing!
